Crack Barr Installation
Diagonal cracking in masonry can occur for many reasons and a chartered structural engineer should diagnose the original cause of movement. This should be rectified or termed long standing before attempting to repair cracked masonry. Failure to do so will move the cracking to a different position within the wall.
Basalt Fibre Reinforced Polymer (BFRP) Crackbarrs have a tensile strength three times higher than steel so are ideal for use in repairing cracked masonry.
Step 1. Rake out the mortar joint to a depth of 30mm
Step 2. Inject either styrene free resin or cementitious grout into the mortar joint. Note if using a grout the joint should be thoroughly brushed through with water.
Step 3. Insert Crackbarr into resin/ grout filled joint
Step 4. Inject resin or grout over the Crackbarr making sure it is completely covered and repoint as necessary
